Potato Champion, and a Blooming Platter Giveaway

I think if you are vegan, you must know about Portland, and you must know about our food carts. I am especially partial to Homegrown Smoker, but recently I ventured out. I crossed the river into Southeast and I followed the smell of potatoes straight to Potato Champion. I was so excited I forgot to take a photo of the cart. Potato Champion makes fries, and makes them really well. They have loads of vegan sauces and even vegan poutine. Everything is clearly marked. I have heard crazy good things about the poutine, but I can be picky about vegan cheese, so I went classic.

This is a small cone of frites, with rosemary truffle ketchup. The frites are perfect. They actually taste light, not heavy and oily. I could drink a bowl of the ketchup.

Get a little closer. These are crispy, and the sauce is complex and tangy. I highly recommend you pay Potato Champion a visit!

  5. It is apple time down south. In the yard I have some flowers and glodenrod gone wild but with near freezing temps this week, I suspect their time is limited. Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. One thing I never have to worry about buying, even in urban LA is rosemary. I might have a cramped apartment that I can't grow anything in, but I just stroll outside and I know of 3 bushes within a block of me!

  14. My basil is going crazy! I need to harvest it before it freezes/dies, and make a bunch of pesto, and freeze it to use all winter. Mmmmm.... My tomatoes have been disappointing this year. I think I didn't prepare the soil well enough. The plants didn't produce much, and what we did get wasn't even as good as store-bought tomatoes. But the BASIL!

  16. Unfortunately I don't have a garden, but I definitely hope to plant a garden one day and in the mean time I love visiting farmer's markets. Thanks for having such a great giveaway!

  17. I don't have a garden either. We do have sort of a simple thing going in the bed outside the front of our house that my husband maintains but, as much as I love flowers and love to eat veggies and fruits, I am not adept at growing anything. I killed our tomato plant and our sunflowers.
