Case in point: someone earlier this year at the PPK posted about Tofu Mom's taco ring. I was curious. I read the blog entry and had to make it immediately, drop everything, that night. It is the best kind of I-can't-be-eating-this-but-it's-amazing-but-the-processed-but-the-taste guilty pleasure. Yes, that is refrigerator crescent roll dough. This is the kind of Midwestern food that my hometown makes. Veganized! I hope you'll visit her blog if you haven't already, and try some yum.

You know what else people like in my hometown? What people like in every town? Cookies, of course. Uncle Eddie's makes vegan cookies, and they are super delicious! And that is my giveaway for you today: Uncle Eddie's will send one winner a box of four bags of cookies, one each of chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin, trail mix, and peanut butter. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment below. Tell me something you love about Tofu Mom's blog, tell me about your favorite comfort food, tell me about your favorite cookies, or anything at all. This giveaway is open to US residents only, but others this month will be open to everybody everywhere. The winner will be chosen by random number generator and posted tomorrow below tomorrow's giveaway. If you win a giveaway on this blog at some point this month, please be kind and don't enter further giveaways--I'd love as many people to win something as possible!
That taco ring is perfection! (btw, if I get drawn for this giveaway please draw again since I can't have the cookies anyway - i just couldn't resist complimenting your meal)
ReplyDeleteI love Uncle Eddie's cookies! I've only had them once before, but I wouldn't mind getting a four-pack to snack on ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite comfort food is pasta, of any variety. But I will definitely take a cookie or two, those are my favorite sweet comfort foods!
ReplyDeleteTaco ring - what a novelty! My favorite cookies involve chocolate and more chocolate. Also, chocolate. :)
ReplyDeletemy favorite cookie is definitely home-made chocolate chip. yummmm. they have to be slightly crispy, and most store-bought cookies don't get that right. (or maybe the packaging makes them soften? i dunno)
ReplyDeleteI have drooled over Tofu Mom's taco ring recipe several times... I've got to make it! Her sopapilla cheesecake recipe is amazing too.
ReplyDeleteFav cookie = oatmeal raisin. And peanut butter.
my favorite cookie is, has been and always will be the chickpea flour/coconut one from vegweb. super odd ingredients with such an awesome outcome!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cookies! My favorite are anything peanut butter and chocolate. I have to say though, Uncle Eddies are my favorite store bought cookie out there! Yum!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the perfect potluck dish!
ReplyDeleteCOOKIES! I think cookies and brownies are my favorite dessert. As for favorite flavor... just about all.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for good old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies. I like them more crispy than fluffy. Cookies!
ReplyDeleteI love bread for comfort food. Any kind will do, but a light, white bread is my absolute sinful fave!
ReplyDeleteI like oatmeal-raisin-peanut cookies.
ReplyDeleteI love any cookies with peanut butter in them. But no raisins!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought the chocolate chip cookie version for a road trip and it was the best! Take it out of the paper bag (leaving just the plastic bag) and it fitted easily into my purse for convenient snacking on the go.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I always love chocolate chip!
ReplyDeleteCOOKIES OMGAWD. I love them all!
ReplyDeleteBut my favorite comfort food is pasta. Just give me some of that starchy, carby deliciousness and I am a happy girl.
Nothing beats a good cookie. I could go for a sesame anise biscotti right about now.
ReplyDeleteThe vegan tomales on TofuMom looks delicious. I will have to try that sometime. However, as for comfort food, I would have to say that my favorite is vegetarian chili over rice with tons of pico de gallo and cilantro to top it all off. Yum! As for cookies, do bars count? My go to recipe is one (vegan of course) which uses coconut oil, toasted and chopped nuts, flour, agave (or brown sugar), bananas as the base and then it's topped with coconut flakes, more chopped nuts and chocolate chips. So good!
ReplyDeleteOh snap! Cookies are definitely the world's greatest thing...Mexican hot chocolate snickerdoodles from the PPK found themselves being eaten for breakfast lunch and dinner a couple times last week :)
ReplyDeletethat taco ring...I may have to do that. soon. oh my.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, when I was a baby vegan 7 years ago, I would always treat myself to a bag of Uncle Eddie's PB chocolate chip cookies. I miss them!
ReplyDeleteIf my grandma cooked for me, I imagine Tofu Mom's food is what she would make (except not vegan—although she's hooked onto the healthy eating recently!). As for my favorite foods, I'm rather boring in that my favorite comfort food is macaroni and cheese and I love love love chocolate chip cookies.
I love fig-filled cookies...and butterscotch cookies...and caramel cashew cookies... :)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i need to make that taco ring.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned in an earlier comment, one of my favorite food groups is cookies!!
ReplyDeleteI love all cookies but I think the best is Chocolate Chip. Is it even possible for one to tire of it?
ReplyDeleteFor me, comfort food has its own food groups: there's the creamy/starchy group (mac 'n cheez), the creamy/sweet group (ice cream), the sweet/starchy group (COOKIES!) and so on. I should make a graph!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I couldn't hear anything after "taco ring." Yum!
