In Which We Reach the End of MoFo, and a Giveaway from GoMaxGo!

How sweet it is! We've reached the very last day of the month, and I'm happy to say I managed to post a blog entry every day for MoFo. Today I'm a bit lame, because I'm nursing a cold and have to drive four hours and get on two planes and get in at who knows what time and still get up for a 9:30 class tomorrow. Woe. So my post will be a bit short. But still sweet!

I'm a fairly new Portland transplant, and I'm not much of a sweets person. Save for a few exceptions that is. I thought that in case you're a Portland resident or perhaps visiting vegan Mecca, you might like to know what my few choices are if I do get a sweet craving.

Sweet Pea Baking (next to Food Fight!) has a great peanut butter brownie that I am never sorry to eat. Piece of Cake, while not entirely vegan, has absolutely killer vegan cupcakes. I prefer the German chocolate. Dave's Killer Bread makes a ridiculously good Sin Dawg; you may have seen me review this a few days ago. And finally, if I want a frozen treat, it's definitely going to be Luna and Larry's Coconut Bliss ice cream--probably Cherry Amaretto. I have yet to head out to VooDoo Doughnut, but it's on the list!

Today, for my last giveaway of the month, I want to offer two of you something similarly sweet: a full range of GoMaxGo candy bars: Mahalo, Buccaneer, Jokerz, and Twilight! This giveaway is open to everybody everywhere, so please enter if you like candy bars! To enter, please leave a post on this blog entry. Tell me your favorite joke, or tell me a pirate story, or tell me anything at all. The two winners will be chosen by random number generator and posted here tomorrow.

Well, huh! The winner of the PPK Extravaganza giveaway is none other than Ameyfm. She wished to be named someone's favorite PPKer, and over at the PPK, she was so named. Also at the PPK, she wished to win this giveaway, and . . . she did so win. What super powers does she have that we don't know about?! Congratulations, Amey! Please send your full name and address to me at miso...@yahoo.com. (<---make sure to click on the . . . link for the rest of the email address. This is a spam avoidance thing.)

  1. Man, I can't wait to visit Portland for Vida Vegan Con! Imma eat EVERYTHING.

So, pirates. My pirate name is Dirty Jenny Rackham; my high school friends and I have pirate alter egos and we dressed up as pirates for many a Pirates of the Caribbean viewing. One of my best friends is even listed in my cell phone as Dirty Anne.

  2. I want candy!
I'd tell you all about my pirate jug band but it is a long story and best told around a campfire whilst eating pie.

  3. Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?

If it had 4, it would be a chicken sedan!

I really ought to stop telling this one...people may be getting tired of it...

  4. I am still waiting patiently (or not so patiently!) for Go Max Go to do their Butterfinger analogue. When I first heard about them, I contacted them about it, and they said it was on their list of things to develop...

  17. Please don't enter me in the giveaway, because I have already benefited from your generosity. I was just wondering if you could ask Amey to wish that I had a pony! I want to cash in on her magical wishing powers :)

Also, here is a joke about a pirate!

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel stuck to the front of his pants. He sits at the bar and before he can order a drink, the bartender says, "Hey, do you know you have a steering wheel stuck to the front of your pants?" The pirate replies .... "Aye, and it's driving me nuts!"

  18. Heres another chicken joke...why do chickens sit on their eggs? Because they don't have chairs! Hoping for some candy!

  20. A poem for you:

    Into My Own

One of my wishes is that those dark trees,
So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze,
Were not, as 'twere, the merest mask of gloom,
But stretched away unto the edge of doom.

I should not be withheld but that some day
Into their vastness I should steal away,
Fearless of ever finding open land,
Or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand.

I do not see why I should e'er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.

They would not find me changed from him they knew--
Only more sure of all I thought was true.
    --Robert Frost

Enjoy! Lovely blog, and happy MoFovember!
