Potato Salad with Kernöl and a Giveaway from Vaute Couture!
Kernöl, or pumpkin seed oil, is a specialty of Steiermerk (Styria). It isn't well-known outside of Austria, and that is a shame. It's expensive to find in the US, but finding good Austrian kernöl is worth it, because it's so unique and delicious. Here I've made a roasted fingerling potato salad with shallots, and dressed it with a red wine vinegar and kernöl dressing. Totally simple, totally delicious.
Alongside this little potato salad, I have a giveaway from the lovely Leanne of Vaute Couture, winner of VegNews 2010 company of the year! Well deserved, because she's wonderful and makes wonderful coats. Leanne will provide you with this great vegan salad-y t-shirt. Available sizes are XS to L in women's, or S-M in men's. (That's Leanne on the left!)
To enter, please leave a comment below. Tell me about a salad you made, or a friend you have, or anything at all. This giveaway is open to all US residents. The winner will be chosen by a random number generator and posted tomorrow below tomorrow's giveaway. If you have won a bigger giveaway from this blog, please consider being kind and not entering further bigger giveaways--I'd love as many people to win something as possible!
The winner of yesterday's Vegenaise giveaway is Lizzie Bordello! Congratulations! Please send your name and address to me at miso...@yahoo.com.
